Our Athletes.
Kevin Enright started the Augusta Stars in 1995 while working as a Recreational Therapist with a local community hospital. After leaving the position, he revamped the Augusta Stars program. Today the Augusta Stars have over 100 athletes training and competing year-round in state games, USA Games and World Games, along with coaches and Unified Partners.
Kevin has been a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) since 1995. He has a vast knowledge of people with intellectual disabilities. He is certified by Special Olympics Georgia in 15 sports. In addition, he is a clinician for Special Olympics Georgia for bocce, swimming, bowling, cycling and badminton. He has been to two Special Olympics World Summer Games, once as a Bocce coach and once as a Unified Partner for Table Tennis. Additionally, he’s been a Bocce coach for the Special Olympics USA Games. He has been the head official in Bocce for the Special Olympics Georgia Fall Games since 2003. He is also a parent of two Augusta Stars athletes.
Kevin is passionate about the Augusta Stars and Special Olympics Georgia. His focus is less on medals earned and more on athletes gaining self-worth and believing in themselves. Kevin looks forward to seeing the program continue to grow and watching our athletes soar to new heights!
